Argument Essay (9/11) September 11, 2001 will be remembered in the hearts of Americans as one of the most tragic and unbelievable days ever experienced in the United States. The events of this day surely affected every citizen and likely affected every person in the world. Our fellow citizens, our way of life, and our very freedom we hold so dearly to us came under attack in a series of remarkable terrorist acts. The victims of this attack were everyday Americans. Secretaries, businessmen, mothers and fathers.

The first of the four agreements is to Be Impeccable With Your Word. What people choose to say and how they say it is one of the most rudimentary ways of expressing individual personality and character. What people express through words publicly will define how they are received by other individuals. This means that if someone is expressing themselves through false word (or lying), he or she is not only fabricating their character for those around them, but also for themselves as individuals. This is living a a fake existence, which inherently means that someone has rejected their own self image.
When we moved to New York, she worked multiple jobs…whatever she could do to help cover her growing expenses” (47). Moore’s mother, a college graduate herself, would not let her children fail to receive a proper education. She sent them to Riverdale, an expensive, private school, so that they wouldn’t fall victim to the public school system of the Bronx. Failure was never an option in Wes’s household, and even though he had tried to rebel against this fact many times as a young child, this is ultimately what helped him to succeed in the rest of his life. There had been multiple times in his life that Wes could have fallen victim to the streets, and become just another juvenile criminal like so many around him,
September 11: Government Cover Up or the Work of Islamic Terrorists? September 11th is a day no American will forget. Most of us remember where we were when we heard of this disaster. The people of my generation were very young when they first heard the news of this tragedy. In the hours following the disaster there were feelings of confusion, disbelief and terror.
Newspapers, homepages, and newscasts filled their content with prejudiced information which distorted many Americans point of view. A quote aired from ABC News Message Board displays exactly how the nation felt directly after the attacks, “The Muslims are a bunch of savages that should be nuked off the face of the earth. The Islamic way of life, their nations,
It was like my stomach had jumped to my heart. Completely horrified of how someone could be so hateful and so violent just completely shocked me. Those dirty rotten scoundrels were going to pay for doing this to the United States. It was like the Tasmanian devil came in and completely destroyed what so many of us took for granted… our freedom. I remember I was in sixth grade when it
Nobody denies that many people come to the United State with hope for a better future, with hope for a better quality of life, with hope for better education for their children which they did not receive. People who migrate legally are welcome in the States, on the contrary people who migrated illegally to the States are not welcomed and do not receive any benefits. They are excluded from the society and are neglected.
I bet the people without insurance didn’t have to pay back the $30,000 they received. Thinking that this was completely wrong and absurd, my mom appealed it, but of course that fell through the floor. In denial about the entire situation, we prepared to not only pay for a new house, all contents and my college tuition in 2 years, but also pay back FEMA money they gave us because we were storm victims. Sounds crazy right? Even though we were lied to by FEMA, it did not matter because we received the same
Noam Chomsky, an American linguist states that the human brain has a limited set of grammatical rules for organizing language. Some disagree because even though every language has their difference we are not limited in our understanding. In the German language there is a word for being happy over someone else’s misfortune “Schadenfreude.” That doesn’t mean that we will not be able to understand that when someone’s enemy falls and they start laughing at them that they are conveying “Schadenfreude.” Languages are different in what they must convey but not what they may convey. Another notable subject in the matter of language and communication was Tannen’s article on how gender differences correlates with styles of speech. It can be generally stated that women or men speak in a particular way.
