Summary/ Response Assignment O`Malley, Patrick. “More Learning, More Testing” In “More Testing, More Learning,” Patrick O`Malley suggests that college professors should give tests to the students periodically in order for the students to learn more. Furthermore, more tests or exams will minimize the student’s stress because students will be more familiar with the subjects that are given to them. Like the author says, “If professors gave an additional brief exams at frequent intervals, student would learn more, study more regularly, worry less, and perform better on midterms, finals, and other papers and projects.” (O`Malley, pg. 488).

When teaching a student about constructing explanations it is important to understand what the purpose of the explanation is trying to say; being thorough is going to be the best option as the more details that are available the more likely the person reviewing the experiment will understand what was trying to be done. The use of computational thinking requires a student to be logical, this is required to be able to solve problems that are more complicated, it involves many aspects such as mathematics (to solve equations), gathering information from many sources; it also requires that the student be able to understand how to gather information from different sources such as the internet or different scientific books (which can be accessed in many locations

The subject of the matter comes up as teachers can also learn from student as well. While a teacher teaches one way which might be long-term for a student, the student might find a different short-term way to solve their problem or equation. This is the kind of mathematics that most parents and government officials recognize as the curricula that they attempted to learn when they were in school.
Students sometimes become so dependent upon technology that they are not exposed to the traditional ways of learning. Because some students might rely on technology in every area of learning, they might never experience what it is like to visit a library or read a printed textbook, especially since so many books can be purchased on audio now. Other disadvantages are that students’ handwriting skills might suffer due to a lack of practice because of their use of the computer to always write reports and essays. Always relying on the computer to find and correct errors while creating documents can result in students having very poor progress in grammar and spelling skills. Because many students also rely on the computer’s calculator, their ability to learn the proper methods of solving math problems might not be as enhanced.
Many college students have a serious problem with anxiety. The Lassi module of Anxiety helps students to realize how to reduce stress from a day to day basis. By reducing and/ or even eliminating anxiety, the student is more able and willing to participate in courses, and complete the course work assigned as homework. Taking tests and doing other quizzes and in class work, is much harder for one who is diagnosed with anxiety. Clinical studies show that students who are free from anxiety, and other physiological illness, are more likely to achieve more than those who are going through the tragedy.
Chris Street wrote an original research article, “Expository Text and Middle School Students: Some Lessons Learned”, and tells us that middle school students face difficulty reading expository texts because they were not taught how to read in this fashion while in elementary school. While in elementary school, they read short novels and chapter books, whereas, in middle school they are expected to read content area text. According to this article, teachers can help their middle school students overcome reading deficiencies by developing a student’s former knowledge on a subject before reading it. Street provides very good strategies on how to engage students with expository text, which consists of: before reading, during reading, and after reading. Before reading strategies include developing
