Anorexia Nervosa
In a society where almost everyone you see is thin or seem to have the perfect body, it is very difficult or frustrating to someone who is heavy, big boned or slightly overweight. You see magazines; movies, models, and celebrities’ with bodies you would like to have, or try to have. Then when you go shopping, it seems like all you see are those clothes that were made for little, petite, or small people. Also, the stress from family, friends, puberty, and life in general can be difficult and frustrating. Any of these circumstances can be stressful and to some it can cause potentially life-threatening eating disorders.
Anorexia Nervosa commonly called anorexia, which literally means “loss of appetite” is a very serious eating disorder. This is more like self-starvation when someone becomes so obsessed with losing weight and dieting that she ignores the body’s hunger signals. Although she may always be hungry, she takes pride in denying the hunger, which makes her feel more in control and independent. This belief has very dangerous consequences. If she begins to lose massive amounts of body weight, she may have anorexia and if it progresses far enough, it can cause physical problems and even death.
This is a deadly illness, which arises from your thoughts and emotions. Societies impact could play a part in this- because thin is in and healthy or overweight are out, but this is only part of the problem. There are four other categories that could trigger anorexia: a life change, family problems, controlling parents, or a need for perfection. It could also be a mixture of these.
Life changes such as moving to a new town, divorce, a death in the family or someone close the birth of a brother or sister, the onset of puberty, or even having sex for the first time.
Family problems, many girls become anorexic when there is drug or alcohol abuse by someone in the immediate family. She may get scared when she can’t make...
