Imagine that you and your husband have been trying to have children for years, and just haven’t been able to. Wouldn’t that be frustrating? Now, imagine that you’re pregnant, and you know that there is just no way that you’ll be able to give your baby the life he/she deserves. Adoption can solve both of these problems. Adoption truly is the best alternative for families who cannot bear children, or cannot take care of their children properly.
First off, I’d like to cover why adoption is the best alternative for families who cannot bear children. There are very few alternatives for families that find themselves in this situation. One of the more popular solutions is in vitro fertilization. Though IVF does have a higher success rate of pregnancy than intercourse, IVF does not always work, and can be rather expensive. . “As the average IVF cycle charges are between $10,000 and $15,000, analysts have reported costs of about $35,000 per delivery in younger women, while medical costs per delivery are over $132,000 for women over 40.” (Perloe) “I spent tens of thousands of dollars on assisted reproductive
technologies…“ (Falker) Adoption on the other hand is a guaranteed solution which is also more affordable. “... Adoption agencies have standards they must follow. These standards don’t allow families that are found to be “unfit” to have a child to be paired with a baby. On the surface, this may sound a bit unfair, but if you stop to think about it these standards are actually a good thing.
