Euthanasia the act of putting to death painlessly or allowing to die, as by withholding extreme medical measures, a person or animal suffering from an incurable, esp. a painful, disease or condition (dictionary.com). Euthanasia is used when a person is in extreme pain, or has a terminal illness to name a few. Putting someone to death intentionally has come about to only help the person and relieves their pain forever. If a person no longer wants to live, why should they? There are thought to be four types, passive euthanasia, active euthanasia, involuntary euthanasia, and physician assisted suicide. Choosing to be DNR (do not resuscitate) and taking someone off life support are examples of passive euthanasia. Active euthanasia when there is a direct order from the person requesting death. The biggest example of this type of suicide is with Dr. Kevorkian, he injected patients with a lethal substance leading to their death. Physician assisted suicide is when the doctor is the one who supplies lethal doses of medicine, usually sleeping pills, or something like carbon monoxide. The difference with physician assisted suicide and active euthanasia is that with physician assisted the patient kills themselves only using the supplies given to them by the doctor. When a person get to a level of unconsciousness or a vegetative state and is not able to speak for themselves but the act of euthanasia is brought on it is considered involuntary euthanasia. People should have their own right to life. The United States should pass a law allowing Euthanasia to be legal.
I personally have seen many instances where people did not want to live. The circumstances in these people’s lives have struck me in such a way and I will never forget. There was one man that I remember in particular he was around his late 50’s and nothing on his body was working itself.
