Riordan Manufacturing is a company that has been in production since 1991, and has yet to reach its potential.   Riordan Manufacturing entails plastic materials.   Currently there are three establishments that are located in Hangzhou, China, Pontiac, MI, and Albany, GA.   The plant in Hangzhou is designated to forecast sales of electric fans.   The motors are bought fully assembled and polymers are purchased to be melted and are reconstructed into the parts needed for the fan.   Custom parts are also developed in the company for special orders.   In this plant a large amount of production is conducted and stored for the forecasted amount of sales.   In Pontiac they centralize in making custom parts for a variety of customers.   In Albany they focalize in designing plastic containers for diverse companies.   Different customers request the bottles, and only a small amount of the more popular bottles are kept in stock for emergency shipments. The R & D (Research and Development) Department at Riordan’s Corporate Headquarters has a sole purpose of evolving the future possibilities of heart valves, medical stents, and complementary medical devices. For this program only five personnel are needed and because the supplies needed are minimal it does not have the same problems that the other plants have.   The information system that is applied now is a sophisticated system, but as good as the system is the need for improvement and integration is great.   One problem that is in the current situation is that each plant has its own system of managing the plant.   A goal to fix this problem is to incorporate all the plants with one system to use.   Another issue is that the company is loosing too much money on current material cost because the current system orders parts on monthly basis instead of a need for the parts.   It also seems that some of the parts can easily be lost because inventory is done in a separate manner instead of using a system that integrates...
