Romeo and Juliet, is one of the most memorable plays written by
Shakesphere. The death of Juliet is a tragic event in this play, but it
was not was not caused by fate as the prologue claims. There is one
person at fault for Juliet's downfall. Friar Lawrence! His actions have a
big part in her death, and these three actions prove my point. First, the
well concieved plans of Friar Lawrence. Second, his knowledge
about the potions seems out of place for a holy man. Finally, his political
beliefs had a part in him marrying Romeo and Juliet.
First, the clever plans by Friar Lawrence are very suspicious. His plans in
the play are well concieved, a little too well thought out. He is the most
scheming and political characters out of all the characters in the play, and his
plans are the cause for Juliet's death. His plans carry out the "fate" of Juliet.
Romeo wouldnt have killed himself if he didnt see Juliet "dead", when in actuality,
she is in a deep sleep. And Juliet wouldnt have killed herself if she didnt see Romeo
dead. The Friar's plans have caused Juliet's downfall.
Second, his knowledge about the potions in the play seems strange.
he is a Friar, why would he know about these potions? This doesnt add up, but there
is a logical explanation for this. He wanted to end the violence in Verona, and he
