For many of us our job is our main source of income to the extent that if we were to be with out a job for a few months the chances going in debt, loosing our homes, and in some cases becoming homeless would become high. A definition for unemployment can be that of a person who is able and willing to work but unable to find work. In the present day many Americans are experiencing this situation. While government officials try to take attention away from this issue as well as the media who is focusing on political campaigns, the reality is that the unemployment rate is starting to grow even if it’s on small percentages. In support of this situation I will put for example a carton which recently got my attention where people standing in line of a job fair are talking about how there is more job seekers in this occasion compared to last year. As a gentleman who is listening responds to the lady asking the question by asking her if she was at the same job fair last year looking for a job, the lady replies by saying “no, I was one of the employers last year” So is this a sign that there a far more people looking for jobs today?
There has been a report that on the present day major companies are starting to cut employees out of their payrolls meaning that the unemployment rate will increase dramatically in the upcoming months. According to a study from the “Vanity Fair magazine” the unemployment rate at the end of 2007 was at a 4.6 percent nation wide. However as of April 28, 2008 according to the United States Department of labor the current unemployment rate stands at 5.0 percent, that is a .5 percent difference from just four months ago.
Many people in the work force who seem affected by this situation are asking themselves the same question. Why is the government not taking this seriously, and what can happen if the situation get worst and if more and more people continue to loose their jobs. What will happen to our economic system?...
