Trying to evaluate the use of cell phones nowadays

Last week I had one of those experiences we call “déjà vu”. Some of you can call it a routine. I call it and unlucky moment. I left home early in the morning and after driving 10miles I realized I didn’t have my cell phone with me. It didn’t need a second thought, I made a U-turn immediately and drove 20 miles extra just to go back and take it.
Some people say it is a bad habit, others say it’s a necessity. The truth is that we are all dependent on our cells phones. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t have a one. It is a fact that all over the world land lines belongs to the past; most people have a personal cell phone number and some of them a second one, their business number. We feel like it’s a part of our lives. All of us have lived those moments where we are driving on a remote area with no reception and we start sweating while watching these bars on the left and right side of the screen falling more and more. What is worse? No reception or no battery? We are always thinking “what if something bad happens and I can’t make a phone call”? Well, I’m thinking “what would my grandfather do”? He didn’t have a cell phone but he survived.
People around the world have been debating for the extended use of cell phones in our lives. Since we haven’t been able to get rid of it, it means that we really need it. Even if we are aware of the “bad” things that can come out of its use we keep using it more than anything else. We are all students and we have our needs, of course. When we enter the class we have to respect the fact that our instructor is going to present something new to us and there are classmates who want to learn. But do we always turn off our cell phones? Unfortunately no. I have forgotten to turn the sound down a couple of times and I was really embarrassed when it started ringing. The same happens in other common areas like restaurants, hospitals, libraries. I don’t think...
