Job Training Partnership Act
The law was enacted to establish federal assistance programs that would prepare youth and unskilled adults for the work force and to provide job training to disadvantaged and other individuals that have problems with employment. In order to carry out its purpose, the law authorized approations in1983 and for each succeeding year to carry out adult and youth programs, federally administered programs, summer youth employment skills, and employment and training assistance for dislocated workers. These are the 5 main parts of the act.
The Adult and Youth Programs provide an education for an employment program to maintain learning centers offering instruction in convenient locations and preparing students to meet State and local education requirements. It also Provides pre-employment skills for people ages 14-21 for those who do not meet basic academic employment skills. It aslo will set up a school-to-work schedule that allows someone to get there education but also gain some money at the same time.
Federally Administrated programs have seven main parts. Employment and Training Programs for Native Americans and Migrant and Seasonal Farmworkers, Job Corps, Veterans' Employment Programs, National Activities, Labor Market Information, National Commission for Employment Policy, and Training to Fulfill Affirmative Action Obligations.
The Summer Youth Employment and Training Programs provide permits that fund titles to be used for employment or job training activities designed for employment or employment preparation and placement and supportive services for program participation and employment retention.
Employment and Training Assistance for Dislocated Workers Authorizes the Secretary to reserve up to 25 percent of the appropriations for this title so States can use them to apply for assistance that provide training, retraining, job search assistance, job placement, relocation assistance, and...
