AIDS
AIDS, acquired immune deficiency syndrome is an incurable disease caused by the sexually transmitted virus HIV. This condition progressively reduces the effectiveness of the immune system and leaves individuals susceptible to opportunistic infections and tumors. HIV is transmitted through direct contact of mucous membrane or the bloodstream. The origin of HIV is unknown but scientists have research suggesting it began in Africa. The symptoms of AIDS vary and there is no sure way to tell unless one is tested. Although AIDS is deadly, it can be prevented and stopped.
The aids virus is transmitted thought direct contact of the mucous membrane, or direct contact with body fluid. Although it has never been transmitted through kissing, oral sex can permit the virus to be transmitting from one party to the other. Children can b born with the virus from birth or through breastfeeding. The virus attacks the immune system, which can leave the person susceptible to tumors. As of today the virus has hit all time high an estimated 33.2 million people live with the virus.
Preventing the spread of the virus has had scientist racing to find a cure. Through out the sub- Saharan Africa the virus has been labeled a pandemic. An even with scientist know the effect they have yet to find a cure for the virus. HIV or aids have caused over three-fourths of the deaths in the sub Saharan Africa. The vaccines only slow the progression of the virus, there are no know cures for the virus.
There are many different symptoms of the virus. One of the symptoms is Pulmonary infections are a type of pneumonia. Even though it is rare in healthy people this symptom is very painful. TB or Tuberculosis is among some of the unique infections that come with the virus. The only true way to be sure that you do not have the virus is to get tested.
