Are athletes getting paid too much? One side says they deserve the money they receive for playing professional sports. The people who think other wise don't understand how the lifestyle of a professional athlete really is or who would get the money we spend if the athlete's didn't get it. They just see those huge salary numbers and think that it is unfair that the general working class doesn’t make that amount of money.

Professional athletes are some of the most dedicated and hardest working people in world. They don't just play a game during their season, they have to train year round or they will lose their job. The psychological stress placed upon athletes is overwhelming and it can grow on a day-to-day bases. They are constantly worrying about their bodies, because if they get hurt, they won’t be able to play in a number of games or worst their career may be over. Athletes also work irregular hours due to their late practices and constantly having to be stretch and checked out by the team’s trainer. “It’s just a game,” some would say. An athlete must be able to maintain a settle head with all the money coming in, paparazzi following you, and others trying to get some of our money.

These athletes receive majority of there money because of the fans. The market with the most fans generates the most money. In an article by Sam Felsenfeld he pointed out it is a simple matter of supply and demand when it comes to fans paying ridiculous amounts of money for tickets and memorabilia. About 95 percent of revenue in the NFL comes from gate receipts and television commercial contracts. Athlete's salaries must stay high to keep the level of competition where it is, and keep striving to get better. Apparel and memorabilia companies pay teams to make jerseys, shirts, hats, etc. These athletes get paid to compete and trust is always stressful, in and out of the game.
