Every mistake you make results in a consequence. No matter how severe the mistake you make, something positive can always come out of it. Mistakes can either make or break you. One of the mistakes I have made has shown me that I could do things on my own and become a better self-directed person as the outcome.
In the spring of 2003 I made the decision of carrying a pellet gun in the back of my pick-up truck while attending school. It never crossed my mind that being in possession of the pellet gun would get me in a lot of trouble. Later on into the day I was asked to step out of my gym class by the disciplinary teacher. He had a stern look on his face and I was quite nervous. I knew this man pretty well and could tell right away that something was wrong. He started by saying, “Do you know why I pulled you out of class?” I was very confused at the time and the thought of the pellet gun in my truck hadn’t even crossed my mind. He then went on to ask if there was a pellet gun in my truck and why it was there. I was extremely nervous but I knew I had to be honest and tell them that I did have a pellet gun in the truck. I explained to him that the pellet gun was broken and had no intention on using it as a weapon. After talking to the disciplinary teacher I was sent back to class with no idea what was going to happen next. By the time my gym class was over, I got called down to the principal’s office. As I arrived to the principal’s office I noticed my mother was waiting in there with a worried look on her face. I sat down next to my mother. I was informed by the principal that possessing any type of projectile weapon is a serious offense. He said that one of two things would happen. If worse comes to worst, I would be expelled from the high school. The best case scenario would be out of school suspension for up to one hundred and ninety days.
