On the online dictionary they describe love as, “A deep, tender, ineffable feeling of affection and solicitude toward a person, such as that arising from kinship, recognition of attractive qualities, or a sense of underlying oneness.” When a person first thinks of love they think of happiness and tender feelings one gets from it. Though not many think of what bad things “love” can bring. All the breakups that emotionally, mentally, and even physically can hurt. Love can practically do anything it wants to someone and many times people seem not to have the courage to say no to it. It can change someone’s total personality, life style, and appearance. Many people don’t understand love and waste their whole lives thinking they are when they really aren’t. Some just fall for lust , some cheat on their partners, some lie, and the list just goes on. In the poem “A Farewell to False love” by Sir Walter Raleigh he writes a poem about his experience of love, he holds anger, regrets and gives the message that looks may deceive what you think of a person.
The author titles the poem “Farewell to False love” showing that he’s ending and saying good-bye to this false love. Hes’ not saying it was true love, real love, or just love and he repeats it several times in the poem that it was in fact false love. It was all a fake, bogus, a sham, artificial, and a forged love.
The author starts the poem with ,”Farewell False love, the oracle of lies.” The author is saying that he wants to end this love. In which all these oracles he heard told him that love was so peaceful yet they all lied to him. He uses an oracle as a comparison because they are always supposed to tell the truth and are highly intelligent but he wants to tell the reader that they really aren’t.
