Technology in Education

Education in 2020 will be very different when compared to present classrooms. Individuals can look forward to the classroom being inventive, fast, paperless, virtual and digital. Some of the predictions of what might be the scope of education in the future will be explained throughout this paper.
It would be amazing for students to study a dangerous tornado storm in the safety of a classroom by watching a 3-D hologram of it forming. Imagine students living in different countries meeting in a virtual classroom and feeling as if they are physically located together. The audio and visual environment will be fully developed; the students will feel as if they are in the same classroom. Envision students exploring pre-historic times in a simulated virtual world with the sense of actually being there. They will experience the visions, noises, scents and feelings of actually being there.
According to Phil Bond, Under Secretary of Commerce for Technology, “Powerful technologies under development in U.S. labs right now are about to transform learning in ways we can’t even imagine. Rapid advancements in the years ahead could enable new learning environments using such things as simulation, visualization tools, virtual worlds, personal intelligent tutors, vast digital libraries and museums, learning and collaboration unbounded by geography.” (Technology Administration, 2004)
It is obvious that technologies of the future could help students of all age groups reach their potential by teaching individuals a way in which they learn best. Students will be able to learn faster by having access to knowledge and instruction at all times. This can be a very powerful and positive change for students all over the world.
