Some researchers have found that multicultural experiences enhance creativity and insight learning. [Multiculturalism is a term often used to describe societies with a proliferation of different cultures] (, 2010). Every individual will have at least one multicultural experience in his or her life. This experience can be as minimal as a trip to the grocery store or as major as performing for a group of individuals from many other cultures. Multiculturalism has its advantages and disadvantages. Whatever the experience may be it is always an opportunity to learn and absorb new information. The experience of multiculturalism can be a beneficial experience. The experience of multiculturalism allows an individual to open his or her mind to accepting an opportunity to learn about other people and his or her way of living. The experience of other cultures helps one to understand and teaches tolerance of others. However, this can also impact others in a negative way. One major disadvantage to multiculturalism is the division that it can create in a society. This may cause one group to form prejudices and stereotypes about other cultures that exist in his or her environment. Our multicultural experiences can have an impact whether negative or positive. I am a musician and soloist and have been since the age of 12. I play and sing for different events like weddings, funerals, birthday celebrations, and church programs. I have had the opportunity to perform for various ethnic groups. I recently joined a group Pastor Sheldon Johnston and “Fellowship.” We travel around and sing at different church functions and we have the
