Marijuana is a mixture of dried, shredded leaves, stems, seeds, and flowers of the hemp plant, cannabis sativa. The main chemical in marijuana is THC. It is typically smoked as a cigarette, called a joint or in a pipe or bong. Marijuana also nicknamed, pot, weed, and hash is considered to be an illegal drug in the United States of America. American residents have a tendency to argue that marijuana should or should not be legal in the country. Marijuana should become a legal substance in America because marijuana could be a source of additional tax revenues; also marijuana generally isn't more harmful than alcohol or tobacco if used in self-control, and lastly drug busts often trap young people in a damaged system that turns them into lifelong criminals. However many can argue these three points by saying marijuana is often used as a “gateway” drug, leading to heroin, cocaine, or other extreme drugs, physical damage would be done to users that abuse the drug, and legalization would increase the chances of the drug falling into the hands of children.
The United States government makes billions of dollars every year on the taxation of alcohol, and tobacco. If the government made marijuana legal, they would make even more money. That maybe the most perfect reason America may want marijuana to become legal, which brings reason to believe that maybe the mafia or some type of organized crime afflation may be involved with marijuana being imported in this country. Some may argue at the fact that marijuana is often viewed as a “gateway drug”, and using marijuana may lead to more extreme drugs such as cocaine, ecstasy, and heroin. “Is marijuana a gateway drug? Yes, insofar as most Americans try marijuana before they try other illicit drugs. But no, insofar as the vast majority of Americans who have tried marijuana have never gone on to try other illegal drugs, much less get in trouble with them, and most have never even gone on to become regular or problem marijuana...
