Gay marriage has caused a large amount of controversy in the United States. People across the country have a strong desire to just be happy. Happiness doesn’t always come easy though, especially for those who are homosexual. People can’t help the way they feel. After all, we are all only human. The challenges ordinary people face everyday are difficult enough for gay and lesbian couples, it’s even harder. So many straight couples get married everyday in America, but what about the minority? Why can’t they have the experience of marriage as well?
Kevin Bourassa and Joe Varnell of Toronto Were married legally as gay in Canada. They wanted to attend a meeting in Georgia to speak at a convention for the Gill Foundation; however, United States customs official denied then entry when they tried to submit the family customs clearance form. America refuses to recognize same-sex marriage although more and more people are starting to “come out of the closet” as the years go on. Because America is in disapproval of same-sex marriage, this will cause friction with other nations because they are recognizing the subject more than they were in the recent past. (ctv.ca)
As for the opposing side of the matter, they say “its a sin,” or “its not morally right.” However, if you were in their shoes and you were being denied happiness, how would you feel? Honestly, most people are only against it because of the Bible. They argue, “God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.” But maybe there’s a reason for that, which no one has thought of. Maybe Adam was happy with a woman and Eve was happy with a man. If they were both happy with being straight, and they were the first couple on the earth, people are naturally going to think it’s wrong to be man with man, or woman with woman. Perhaps it’s because some people are eerie about the fact that some people are happier in a relationship with a person of the same-sex, but either way, not everyone can be content if they’re...
