Causes and effects of computer hacking
With the rapid development of information technology, the world is becoming more and more reliant on computers. However, due to the growing number of hacking activities, the computerized world is no longer safe. The issues raised by the hacking become more concerning than ever before. This essay is going to analyze the roots of the computer hacking as well as the effects brought about by it.
The reasons why hacking is prevailing are multiple. However, the motivations that encourage hackers to direct the hacking activities could be the most important factors that contribute to the situation. There indeed exists several hackers treat hacking as an interesting hobby to find out how many computers can be cracked. Unfortunately, more hackers are hacking for malicious inclinations. In general, most hackers gain the unauthorized access to systems to steal credit card numbers, bank account details, and other financial or business information. Obtaining such information will bring them a sum of money directly, which could be considered as the profit motivation. Other hackers target on users’ computers recourses which will further serve as the Distribution Denial of Service (DDoS) to attack other computers or web sites. Hackers also use compromised computers as spam machine. The “spam zombies” literally send out torrents of spam without the user’s knowledge. Several hacking are even related to espionage activities. Government information is stolen by hackers for specific usage.
The consequences resulting from the computer hacking are serious and dangerous. For individual users, apart from the huge financial damages and the leak of private information caused by the hacking, computer cracking may cause frustration and fear to individuals when using their machines.
