As far as climate change is concerned, the scientific literature tends to focus on the negative impacts of it. Beyond any doubt that some of these effects are thought to be catastrophic, and because of this, individuals tend to believe more in the negative effects of the climate change than in an equivalent gain.
Recent scientific researches indicate that due to the ice melting, polar thaw has started to unlock treasures, such as, hints of oil and gas resources. What is more, it became possible to explore new lucrative shipping routes and important commercial fisheries. Last August, for example, Russian ship became first ship ever to reach pole without help of icebreaker. In such a way, the United States, also, because of Alaska, now have a real possibility to expand their territory.
Furthermore, there will also be some gains in amenity across large areas. Several studies indicate that nature of these amenity places will gain a lot, hence, increased opportunities for tourism, for example. As a matter of fact, many people simply prefer to live in mild climates. Above all, regions that have “too cold” climates would significantly gain from warming. In this respect, that, evidently, would be the areas of “better” climate typified by lower rainfall, lower mid-summer temperatures (in countries such as Italy) and lower cloud cover. Overall, there appear to be distinct amenity gains for the countries of Northern Europe, with generally neutral effects in Southern Europe. Once the focus moves to Asia there are serious household losses, confirming the general picture that it is the poorer parts of the world that suffer most from climate change.
In the end, it is good to notice that we should be more careful with our drastic conclusions concerning the climate change negative effect. It appears that there are weaknesses in the way the scientific community treats the impacts of global warming. Indeed, it has been heard little...
