Faith in ghosts
Ghosts, EVP phenomenon
While talking about ghosts, our imagination immediately creates a picture of white spirit which is rising over the floor, and very often makes specific sounds like crying, whining or screaming. A term ghost, in other words is a soul of a dead person, which cannot “rest in peace” and that is the reason why it strays in the world of the living, usually appears in a place where during live such ghost lived. We know all that things about spirits from films, cartoons or stories, told by grandmothers and rather older members of family.
But what is the ghost indeed? In Encyclopedia we can find a description of ghost which says that: “A ghost is the apparition of a deceased person, frequently similar in appearance to that person, and usually encountered in places he or she frequented, or in association with the person's former belongings. The word "ghost" may also refer to the spirit or soul of a deceased person, or to any spirit or demon. Ghosts are often associated with haunting, which is, according to the Para psychological Association, the more or less regular occurrence of paranormal phenomena associated with a particular locality (especially a building) and usually attributed to the activities of a discarnate entity; the phenomena may include apparitions, poltergeist disturbances, cold drafts, sounds of footsteps and voices, and various odors”.
Faith in ghost is very old and common phenomenon. Even roman writer and analyst Polonius the Younger who died in 113, wrote about ghastly enchained spirit, which was wandering in the house, and next, disappeared in the floor. When later that place was dag out, enchained skeleton was found. In the 80’s in Great Britain a questionnaire was polled, and the results were astonishing.
