There is no doubt today that internet is a wondrous creation. The entire world is rapidly becoming obsessed with it. Everywhere you look you are bound to see something related to the internet. Internet as we all know has been a great part of the human life ranging from the way we act, feel and think about our physical environment.
In this journal, it will try to talk about the situation of internet today which has been a great question which is “whether the internet is bringing us closer or taking us further apart”.
Firstly, we cannot over emphasis the good that internet has brought to our today’s world. For example, the communication part of our life has taken another step further since the discovery of internet. Formally our mode of communication was slow in the sense that we will write letters and post waiting for a long time before getting a reply but today internet has made it easier and fast. We can send email to someone millions of miles away and receive the reply in split seconds. We can also go further to chat with the person and see each other through the internet using webcam making communication convenient today. Also in area of business, we can now buy and sell using E-commerce which is also through internet. There is a lot to be said about internet on its advantage to the human life today. In social science, we talk about institutions and none of these institutions today can be said to have not being affected dramatically by internet either in a positive or negative way. For example in the area of religion as an institution, many churches in the world today are hooked on the internet. A church in Nigeria can be having a service and somebody in Malaysia is watching it live through the internet.
