Intelligence, the ability to solve problems and to adapt and learn from experiences. Intelligence is a sophisticated abstraction from a behavior; we may sometime half-consciously endow it with a kind of shadowy existence distinct and separate from the intelligence organisms which alone give it meaning. The study of human intelligence is one of the most controversial issues in psychology. Intelligence and personality are the two areas in which individual differences have mainly been emphasized (Santrock 290). Intelligence is to be considered as a part of the total functioning unit Function intelligence and productive thinking occur where there is an open curious mind that wants to understand more and more of the world around it. I believe, Intelligence can be affected by one’s surroundings and environment because environment plays a big role in being intelligent.
. The rapid development and extensive use of so-called intelligence tests during the past years is one of the most striking and interesting field of educational psychology and one of the most significant in the province of school administration.
Intelligence tests were first undertaken by Binet more then fifteen years ago, but it is only within more recent years that these tests and others of an analogous nature have been extensively employed in school practice. There are different types of Intelligence tests such as Intelligence test of retarded school children, Intelligence tests of the feeble-minded, Intelligence tests of delinquents, Intelligence test of superior children, and Intelligence tests for vocational fitness (Terman 3-18). The first intelligence test was constructed by Alfred Binet and was constructed to determine which students would not profit from typical school instruction (Santrock 291). Binet proposed that child’s intellectual ability increases with age so therefore, he tested potential items and determined that age at which typical child could answer them correctly....
