An Old Friend Don’t even get me started on Casey Fortin. I met her when I was around 5 years old I imagine. We were young, and restless. We did so many things together, and spent weeks on end at each other’s houses. She lived in the town over from me, Morgan, Vermont. She lived on Crystal Lake, so we would swim in the summer and ice skate in the winter. Even though our friendship ended in the seventh grade, a part of her will always be with me. Casey and I had our fun, and mischief. We would come up with games to play, and make things challenges. Off the top of my head, I have a memory that hasn’t left my mind. She’s the reason I’m afraid of water. One summer afternoon, I and Casey walked over to the water hole. She had a rope swing that I was terrified of. She was probably fed up with the fact that I wouldn’t jump off into the water like her. So she was like “Nicole, grab the rope for me.” So I did, and she pushed me off. She knew I couldn’t swim, and I panicked and doggie paddled for my life to the edge of the hole. I have stayed as far away from rope swings as I can ever since.…show more content…
