It is my opinion many Americans feel like their specific vote doesn’t count. These people don’t trust the politicians. I have noticed that many people I speak to have the same opinion I do. These politicians will say what they think the major issue is that needs attention in order to get the vote but if they are elected then they, at times, will push off that major issue to the “back burner”. This is no longer the major issue to them. When society sees things like that happening then they feel helpless on changing it. Going to the polls and voting on the issues at hand is the best way to make those changes you want.
This Presidential election in 2008 will determine a lot in society’s eyes. We have a fresh candidate pool to choose from. It’s not someone rerunning. Each party is going to have to prove that their candidate is good enough for the country as a hole. With the primaries and caucuses going on we have had more of a turn out than in previous years. A major effect for this year, at least in Nevada, was the caucus was moved up to beginning of the country for the primary schedule. By doing this the people feel like their vote counted more. In the past years, Nevada was towards the end of the primaries and according to thenevadacaucus.com, “The Nevada Caucus has had no significance in the past due to its later date and its size. The Democrats moved it up to give the West a voice in the presidential election along with Iowa & New Hampshire.” This election is in a way “starting from scratch”.

The project's goal is broadening and deepening citizens' involvement in the presidential selection process.
