Magic Kingdom for Sale- Sold is a fantasy, with a hero, who is on a quest. The author of this novel is Terry Brooks. Magic Kingdom for Sale is a fantasy novel because it is an adventure and it contains elements of suspense throughout the book. Ben Holiday is the hero of this novel, who is not satisfied with his life as a lawyer in Chicago after the death of his wife and their unborn child. This led him to purchasing Landover from the Rosen’s Ltd. Christmas wish book. The hero, Ben Holiday is on a quest with a goal of becoming Landover’s new king. While on his quest, Ben Holiday meets various characters who help him in achieving his goal, and others who are against him. With the help of some, Ben works to accomplish his goal. The message that the author delivered in this novel is that the good always defeats the evil. Magic Kingdom for Sale is a fantasy because it is a story of a hero who is on a quest and must overcome several obstacles to reach their intended goal; Ben Holiday is the hero of this story who fights evil and at the end of his quest is able to fulfill his goals.

A fantasy contains a hero on a quest who must overcome several obstacles to reach their intended goal; Magic Kingdom for Sale also has a hero on a quest. Ben Holiday is the hero on a quest with a goal of becoming king of Landover, and he must first overcome several obstacles. One of the obstacles is to go into the fairy world and get Io Dust for Nightshade. Nightshade is a witch who lives in Deep Fell and uses magic to create illusions. Willow tries to convince Ben not to go but Ben insisted:
          ‘That doesn’t change anything, Willow. I still have to go. But I’ll be careful, I promise. I’ll            
          be very careful.’ She shook her head wordlessly, and the tears ran down her cheek. He
          hesitated, then leaned forward and kissed her gently on the mouth. ‘I’ll be back’ (Brooks
