Barack Hussien Obama, the 44th President of United States, showed his talent of leadership and determination since he was young. He was hired as director of the Developing Communities Project (DCP), a church-based community organization soon after he graduated from university. Everything started to change and he finally began his politician journey when he was offered to join Harvard Law School. The first year was already an exceptional year for him, as he was selected as an editor of the Harvard Law Review. His election as the first African American president of the Harvard Law Review gained national media attention and led to a publishing contract and advance for a book about race relations. In 2004, Obama was elected to the U.S Senate as Democrat, representing Illinois. His effort and determined characteristics has finally brought him to the highest achievement when he won the election to be the 44th President of United States. Americans are on high expectation with President Obama to overcome the crisis and highly demand on the new changes brought by him.
Racism has always been an issue that all leaders of the countries have to face in order to assure of the national security, not excluding United States, one of the most advance and modern country. The citizen of U.S.A. has been battling with the issue racism ever since the first slaves were brought into the country. Discrimination against the blacks is a never ending rebuttal that revolves around the U.S. citizen. The blacks are often seen as the ‘low-class’ social groups in the society. Although racism has finally began to recede and we have all seen the white Americans making a great progression in restraining racism over the past few years, no doubt that there are still minority that practices racism. Modern racism explains the phenomenon of the minorities of U.S citizen who acted unprejudiced on the outside but maintained the prejudice attitude inside.
