Think critically about the following statement. A universal language should replace all languages. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of a universal language.

Language is the best mean of communication. In globalization era, having lots of languages puts many barriers between various people around the world and knowing the local language is not enough for one to be able to communicate well with foreigner. I strongly support the idea that the communities throughout the globe should replace all the languages with a universal language.

A universal language will open new frontiers and allow the countries to interact better in political, social, and economic aspects. The many nations of the world will be able to communicate with each other easily which will give them the sense of unity and solidarity. A common language will influence the societies to have similar ideology, beliefs and principles, so political and war conflicts will occur less frequently, because the people of those conflicting countries will be united. A universal language will create an economic boom of growth and development. Companies and firms around the world will be able to interact more easily which will allow the trading to occur faster and more effectively. Also, tourists will be able to travel to any part of the world without having language difficulties.

Establishing a universal language will create some disadvantages. A universal language will influence the great variety of the world’s cultures, so the colorful variation will be lost. The beauty of national languages is in their differences, their complexities and setting up a universal language will displace the many languages of different nations which will heavily shatter their customs and traditions.
