In this chapter we learn about the structure of the Earth, yet noting the four main layers. Those four layers starting from the center of the Earth are as follows; the solid inner core, the liquid outer core, the mantle, and the crust. There are three sub layers yet two key elemnts to the mantle one being the lithosphere and asthenosphere. The uppermost zone is thin but hard and rigid while extending to a depth of 65 to 100 kilometers this area is known as the lithosphere. The asthenosphere is set at a depth of 350 kilometers a zone where rocks are so heat that they lose much of their form and strength thus becoming deformed like tar. Near the crust we have the Moho otherwise known as the Mohorovicic discontinuity. This Moho are at the base of the crust is where significant changes in minerals composition occurs. They we come to the composition of Earth minerals. All rocks contain minerals yet not all minerals are rocks. The naturally form compounds and elemnts of minerals are the building blocks for rocks which build up the landscape of Earth. The world of rocks contain Igneous, Sedimentary, and Metamorphic. The group of Igneous contain Plutonic (Intrusive) and Volcanic (Extrusive) rocks. Sedimentry class consist of clastic (detrital) along with chemical and organic rocks. The Metamorphic contain Foliated and Nonfoliated subclasses. The volcanic magma can produce two different types of rock depending on how fast the compound cools. Most sedimentary rocks form in flat, horizontal layers called strata the way they settle and then consolidat by compaction and/or cementation with weight involves the overlying result. There is a relation between the three classes of rocks the relationship goes through a cycle it is a basic "recycling" of lithospheric material. All this material can lead to the study of landforms. But to better understand the concept of landform one must know what the terms landform, topography, and geomorpholgy means along with what is meant by...
