Evidence
Recently, there has been growing unease towards the increasing concentration of carbon dioxide, with impending serious consequences on the earth and our livelihoods. It has been stated that the release of carbon dioxide is a by-product of processes that improves the quality of life in human society. This statement will be supported in this argumentative essay. Several implications will have to be considered in the decision of the validity of the statement.
The Earth’s current concentration of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere is the highest it has been in two-thirds of a million years. This unnatural elevated level is coating the atmosphere and warming the planet. The reason the planet is warmed can be explained by using energy waves. When there is a normal, low, presence of carbon dioxide, the Suns energy waves proceed through the carbon dioxide covering, get reflected by the earth’s water and exits through the CO2 covering again. When the carbon dioxide level is higher, however, the light waves fail to pass back, through the carbon dioxide, out away from the planet.
It is extremely obvious that this increased level of carbon dioxide has been profoundly influenced by human activity. Around about the time of the start of the industrial revolution, the concentration of CO2 was 280 ppm (parts per million) (T.J. Blasing, 2008). This pre-industrial revolution time, was a time of no processes occurring to improve the quality of life in human societies. However, now, after several decades and centuries of industrialized worlds, the concentration has increased to 384 ppm. This increase is in direct correlation to the processes, which have improved human society, but, have produced excess harmful CO¬2.
These processes, that produce carbon dioxide, include the following;
The combustion of fossil fuels, coal and wood;
Fossil fuels => For any combustion of any fossil fuel;
Fuel + Oxygen...
