Obesity
Obesity is a growing problem in the United States of America that affects
a large number of people and kills many as well. Some type of drastic action
must be taken by the United States Government to ensure that no more of the
remaining two-thirds of Americans with healthy weights become victims of this
severe growing epidemic. The rates of people worldwide affected by obesity
are growing exponentially, and if action is not taken soon then the world will
find itsself much less happy and healthy than before. Obesity is a rapidly
growing problem that must be stopped.
Obesity is a growing epidemic that not only costs Americans over one-
hundred and ten billion dollars a year, but also costs four-hundred thousand
Americans their lives every year. Over thirty percent, almost one-third, of
America’s population is affected by this killer. Obesity also puts its victims at
risk for a number of other medical ailments, including but not limited to
diabetes, heart disease, various cancers, and several severe cerebrovascular
ailments including strokes. This killer also affects an amazingly high quantity
of American children, over fifteen percent. Billions of American people affected
by obesity and more American people are killed each year by obesity than
alcohol, microbial agents, toxic agents, motor vehicles, firearms, sexual
behavior and illegal drug use.
Becoming obese means that a person has a Body Mass Index of over
thirty. Obese people neglect to take care of themselves; they either ignore
their body’s constant need for physical activity, or they eat food that have to
many calories and too much fat constantly and...
