Introduction:
The Traditional systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) consists of six steps: Preliminary investigation, system study, system analysis, programming and implementation, support and maintenance, and documentation (Moore, Nolan & Gillard, 2006, p. 1). SDLC is a process of developing systems. Usually, SDLC is used to develop computer or information systems. CEO of Bank United, Mareo Crowell, called upon his team of analysts to create software in junction with the 150 ATM machines across Cincinnati, Ohio. Mareo requested that the analysts use the traditional SDLC, and this software should serve as a self service tool for Bank United customers.
Preliminary Investigation
The first stage of the traditional SDLC the analysts were to follow was the preliminary investigation. After receiving many letters and feedback from customers in regards to not being able to manage their account on-line, and over the phone. The customers are able to view their account balance, and loan balance on-line. Many of Bank United customers are elderly and not as mobile as the younger customers. Management from the frontline call center brought to Mareo’s attention that software was needed that will allow customers to manage their account online, or over the phone rather than having to make a trip to the bank anytime they need to make account changes. Based on customer feedback, and competition, Mareo agreed that it was time to upgrade their technology. He then turned to his team of analyst and technical support team.
System Study, Analysis and Design
The previous software of the company was not at the standards of the competition. The only feature that stood out in this software was the accurate balances in the customers account. With the new software, customers will be able to apply for credit cards, transfer funds, dispute unknown funds, apply for loans, and chat with a live customer service representative.
