Charles Manson, the founder of the Manson Family, who is also known as Charles Milles Maddox, was born on November 12. 1934. In Cincinnati, Ohio. There were consistent changes of behaviors modes for Manson to live by. Since the absence of his mother, who was an alcoholic and a prostitute made him a subject to different environments, Manson had to spend part of his childhood with his religious grandmother. Shortly after his mother Kathleen and her brother were sentenced to the penitentiary for armed robbery, Manson moved to live with one of his uncles who found him feminine and had him dressed like a girl on his first day at school. Another part of Manson’s life as a child was with another uncle who end up killing himself in protest to the authorities taking his land.
Charles reunited with his mother again after her release from prison but the reunion did not last for too long since his mother's boyfriend rejected his existence in his mother's life, And after failing to send him to foster home, the court sent him to Gibault's School, which is a reform school. He managed to flee away exactly after 10 months to his mother who rejected him again. Burgling stores and stealing were Manson’s way of surviving out in the streets, but that did not last for too long, he was caught in act and sent to an Indianapolis juvenile center, which he escaped after only one day. His escape led to placing him in the Boys Town, where Manson again escaped with some of his folks and committed armed robbery on their way to his uncle’s house.
At age 13, Manson was again caught breaking in a grocery store, and was sent to the Indiana School for Boys, where, he claimed that he was harassed sexually. After many failed attempts, he escaped with two other boys in 1951. A psychiatrist who examined him in 1951 says this of the youth: "the marked degree of rejection, instability and psychic trauma.
