49 Up
This is a movie that began as a simple documentary project that became a series with the conclusion so far being 49 Up. The author of this documentary, Michael Apted, follows 14 British children throughout their lives and documents how and why they are who they are today. There is an installment every 7 years to keep the viewers in touch. The 14 participants are Bruce Balden, Jackie Bassett, Symon Basterfield, Andrew Brackfield, John Brisby, Peter Davies, Susan Davis, Charles Furneaux, Nicholas Hitchon, Neil Hughes, Lynn Johnson, Paul Kligerman, Suzanne Lusk and Tony Walker.
All 14 make a great transformation from when they are younger to now. John apparently said when he was younger that he wanted a life with politics. He went on to attend a university and is now a barrister and working on many good world causes. Andrew, who apparently in the first set in the series stated he wanted to go a specific college, ended up following his plan exactly and became a solicitor, got married and has a family. Suzy had one of the dramatic turn arounds in the series. She had come from a wealthy family who got divorced. Their divorce sent her spiraling down into bad habits which turned around after she met her current husband. They married and have a family together. She made a comment that 49 Up might be her last appearance in the series. Jackie, Lynn, and Sue who started out as great friends went their separate ways when they hit their 20s when 2 got married. Lynn has stuck closely to her librarian career, and Sue and Jackie both got married, had families and are now divorced. Tony who seemed to change his life’s goal a lot throughout the series was a jockey at first, then a cabbie, and now a small part actor. After a rocky relationship with his wife, he now has moved and owns 3 houses, including a holiday place in Spain. Paul who lacked confidence as a child still lacks it today. He lives in Australia with a wife but went through depression treatment. He...
