My First Interview for a Job
The toughest part of life for a fresh graduate like me was getting a job. Job interviews always concerned me, but I decided that getting a job was an important criterion that I should follow. I also thought that it would help me meet my expenses rather than having to depend on my parents. I never realized that getting a job would also make me a more responsible person. Despite feeling very nervous to face my first job interview, I excelled in it. This interview gave me the confidence that I was determined to develop.
New situations always made me a bit nervous, low on confidence, and my first interview was no exception. Getting up early in the morning and making myself look tidy troubled me; I managed to appear in a good outfit and took the transit to the place where the interview was scheduled to be held. By the time I arrived, the interviewing process had already started. Cursing the transit system, I stood timidly by the side of the wall, waiting with the other candidates. After a couple of minutes, the attendant came over and called the name of the next candidate to be interviewed. My name was not called, so I took the seat in the lobby waiting for my turn. After thirty more minutes, the attendant called my name.
I knocked at the door, and after hearing from the other side, I moved my foot forward into the room. I smiled, greeted, and introduced myself to the panel of interviewers. Although they were all older than me, they did not intimidate me; rather, they made me feel ease. They looked meticulously at the certificates which I had presented before them. After examining my candidature for the position offered, one of the senior members on the panel of interviewers asked the first question about my future interests.
