This paper describes the accounting system of Kudler Fine Foods. BSA 310
Introduction
There are many aspects to consider when purchasing an information system for your business. Choosing a system that is modular and scalable will ensure the design will be functional for your business procedures. With the help of an outside consulting firm, Kudler Fine Foods purchased and installed a Retail Enterprise Marketing System (REMS). The ability to purchase only the modules needed to operate their retail stores made this system a cost effective way to organize their transactions into printable reports. The modules included in their system are the general ledger, accounts payable and receivables and point of service. The purpose of this paper is to show how all these modules can work together to create a well organized system that enables the company to monitor their growth.
General Ledger
The first module in the system is the general ledger. This module is the central area of the system and is where all the raw data is organized. The general ledger provides information for the Finance and Accounting department as early as the time of purchase which allows them to generate reports such as the daily transactions, balance sheets, income statements and cash flow. The information can then be used to analyze the monitor the process of each individual store. These reports can help the company determine marketing strategies, inventory movement and budgets down to the individual department level. Information found in this module is automatically generated through daily input from the other modules such as the point of service module.
Point of Service (POS)
The point of service (POS) module is primarily used at the retail store level. This module is used to capture all the retail sales in detail including the item number, price, cost, quantity, store location, and employee. Information is then directly...
