18 Years Old and Drinking…..Illegally
All our lives we all have to abide by some form of rules and all of these rules are enforced for a reason. Some rules may be enforced for a household such as you only eat at the kitchen table because eating around the house may cause unwanted household bugs. Even though that’s a minor rule it still applies. There are also major rules such as no drinking and driving we all must follow that rule. Both sets of rules should be followed whether they are minor or major because they both serve a purpose for being followed even though one is obviously serious more serious. Lowering the standers for these to rules is like lowering the illegal drinking age eighteen years old there is a reason the age is set at twenty one. The idea to change the illegal drinking age is ridiculous because eighteen year olds are not fully responsible, it will cause more fatalities, and more chances for a teen to become an alcoholics.
When being an eighteen year old you are not fully responsible to drink legally. Being able to drink comes with major responsibilities even if you are twenty one years old and it should not be taking lightly. Being able to drink at age eighteen may cause teens to drink with negligence. They may over drink and become destructive to everything and everyone. It is also said that a teen is not fully matured for life mentally at the age of eighteen so that in my eyes makes them not able to be responsible enough to take a drink at the age of eighteen.
Reducing the legal age of drinking to the eighteen can and will cause more car accident fatalities because teen will drive drunk and think that it s ok. At the age of eighteen that only gives teens less than two years of driving experience and at that time they are already considered high risk just because they are a teen. Giving teens the opportunity to drink at an earlier age is putting teens and innocent bystander and other people on the road at risk...
