Understanding Adaptations
Purpose-The purpose of this lab is to understand natural selection and that those who are “Fittest” are most likely to survive and pass on their genes to the next generation.

1. General trends in the first environment that appeared in the bar graph included the surprisingly low survival numbers for every color besides white, which had forty-one surviving punchies left, the yellow, which was the target of most predators (hence the survival number of twenty-six) did terrible surviving. With each predator, a very different number of killings arose. In the second environment, black punchies were the most prevalent species with a total of sixty-two remaining punchies. The other colors had a hard time avoiding their predators with the closest runner-up at forty-six.
2. The ability to hide in their surroundings enabled the white and black punchies to prevail in their respective environments.
3. The black punchie had the lowest survival in the first environment because they stood out the most against the land. The white punchies died the most due to standing out too much.
4. None of the punchies changed from one color to the other because adaptation takes millions of years and to witness those changes, one would have to live millions of years.
