Lab Report

We were assigned to make structures on our theme which was Egypt and I made a pyramid for my structure. We first made them then tested them and mine failed because of my adaptation which was screw and wire had a little problem with how it was held together. In the project my group members were Emily, Jeff, and Carly. My pyramids materials were wood, eye screws, and wires.

I think the adaptation Screw and Wire will allow my structure to survive an earthquake because the screw and wire will hold my structure from all sides and when the earthquake starts it will move around to give it flexibility but it will hold it around its area. And it will allow it to not go off of the board. My steps that I used to build my pyramid are sixteen steps. First is that you need to cut the wood by seven inches, second is you need to decrease after four pieces of the same measure by three quarters of an inch. Then after all have been cut, put them together and on top of each other from largest to smallest, make a tip that’s about two inches. Staple them all together using nails or screws or easier a nail gun. Then you need to cook/ mud all the corners and gaps and then sand it all. Paint it and let dry and then sand it again but using a softer sandpaper. Repaint it and let dry, then you can draw the brick scheme. Screw an eye screw for each of the corners on the bottom of the second row. Screw the other four on the surface that it will be on. Line up the corners of the eye screws and take the wire and go through both eyes and then tightly tight the wire so it will become a loop and maybe you need to add extra support to the wire to hold the joints together like hot glue.

Before the experiment the pyramid was held down from all sides and tight to the board. Then during the earthquake it was moving everywhere but holding together. But after the earthquake, the pyramid was tipped over because one of...
