Title: FAT BOY SLIM (MEN’SHEALTH; July/August 2002)
Introduction sentence: When someone looks around him/her, it is obvious that sees more and more people have an obesity problem. What should one do when confronted with an obesity problem? You will see the personal history of a man who received gastric-bypass surgery; it has made an enormous difference in his life

1. His journey into fatness began around age 7.
a) No obesity problem in his family
b) Gym class was a nightmare for him
c) When he was in 10 th grade, he weighed over 200 pounds

2. Depressing and humiliating experiences
a) He developed lust for girls, even though they were not attracted toward him. He had a couple of girlfriends, but most wanted advice about their boyfriends.
b) At his job, bosses told him that he was not the image they wanted for their company.
After depressing and had humiliating experiences like these, the guy found comfort in food. Here is an example give you an idea of what he was ordering at a fast food restaurant after he went through difficult moments: a big mac, a quarter pounder, two small orders of fries and a chocolate shake. Usually, after he got home from the restaurant, he ate some ice cream and cookies.

3. After he ac knowledge that he had a problem, he tried to loose weight (diff. methods)
a) He tried eating grapefruit, liquid diets, injection with the urine of pregnant women, weight watchers, but he failed everytime.
b) His wake-up call came during a routine to his doctor. The upper limit of the scale was not high enough to indicate his precise weight; he had place each foot on one scale. This experience troubled him and embarrassed him. His doctor recommended to him a surgery (long painful incision, days and days in the hospital, and weeks laid up at home).
