Noun

1.
The development and application of scientific methods, procedures, and technologies that permit direct manipulation of genetic material in order to alter the hereditary traits of a cell, organism, or population.

A technique that produces unlimited amounts of otherwise unavailable or scarce biological product by introducing DNA isolated from animals or plants into bacteria and then harvesting the product from a bacterial colony, as human insulin produced in bacteria by the human insulin gene. Also called biogenetics.

What Is Biogenetics?

What does all this mean? Basically Biogenetics is the study of genes and DNA you get from your parents, or an organism gets from their parents. With biogenetics you can produce more DNA that may be a special genetics trait to someone, change the genes of a cell to make something an entirely different species, or cure disease.
Example- Say Bob had a natural resistance in his immune system to the Gangleritis Virus (not real) then his genetic trait (a gene that he poses) would be valuable to those who are infected with the disease and do not have this gene. Then he is a host for a possible cure for the Gangleritis virus!
This is only a small part of bio genetics but read on and you can see how important and even scary it actually is.
