“Hello”
“Hello Mary its Jack, how are you holding up tonight?”
“I have been better, I felt the baby kick today” Mary spoke softly
“I am glad to here that ... About the baby, Mary would it be alright if I came over to ask you a few more questions?”
“Um… alright if it will help catch the man who did this to Patrick, I loved him Jack” Mary said very quickly.
“I know Mary; I should be there very shortly”
“alright good bye jack see you in a bit” and with that Mary hung up the phone and began to pace back and forth across the living room, oh no she thought, maybe they found some of the leg in his head, maybe the wound got infected from the meat and they know it was the leg and there going to arrest me. Mary began to get frantic she didn’t know what to do , run away to help save her baby no I cant do that they will find me and know I did it.
She sat down and filled a glass with some whiskey, no soda water just 2 ice cubes, and noticed the time it was a quarter to 5 Patrick would have been home in 5 mints. She couldn’t believe that just 24 hours ago she was a happily married woman expecting a baby, now a fugitive single expecting widow slowly going insane.
Suddenly the sound of tires on gravel broke the silence of Mary staring into her glass.
*knock* *knock*
Mary slowly stood up, put the almost empty glass aside, walked towards the door and opened it”
“Hello Mary” jack said “may I come in?”
“Of course jack” Mary said as she walked back towards here chair.
“So Mary, I just have a few questions it won’t take long” jack said
Mary new from this moment that she had been caught, her husband had told her stories about questioning people and this is only what he said to people he knew were guilty, if they had a doubt they would have said “then I will be on my way”
