In April, of 2007, the Supreme Court passed a law that bans a certain procedure of abortion. (Not the act) It was voted 5-4 in favor of keeping the woman’s rights intact. A woman can get an abortion as long as the baby’s skull doesn’t experience any damage. This is not only harmful to the fetus but hazardous to the woman as well. Some officials were against for the fact that it limits the freedom that woman have with their bodies. (Sherman, Mark) I don’t disagree with this law I just think it should be enhanced.
There are different types of abortion. In certain situations a woman’s health or the forming child could be in trouble and a therapeutic abortion is in order. It could mean saving a woman’s life or terminating a pregnancy that would result in birth defects which would be incompatible with life or associated with major morbidity. One couldn’t disagree with such notions, but for one to decide on an abortion because she wants to should not be allowed to be thought. An abortion with no medical reason behind it is called an elective pregnancy.
Some religions are strongly against abortion. They have called it the direct killing of an innocent and an unspeakable crime. There are exceptions that have been allowed on the grounds that the abortion is not a direct attack on the fetus, but is an indirect effect of a medical procedure. Furthermore, women should learn responsibility for their own bodies. They shouldn’t be allowed to receive an abortion any time they want. The law should be superior to only getting an abortion when it is medically supported.
