The Early Renaissance was the first generation of artists which mainly consisted of Donato di Niccolò di Betto Bardi, universally known as Donatello, was born in Florence around 1386 and died there in 1466. The powerful ability of his art made him the greatest sculptor of the Early Renaissance. The Masterpieces of his career included the marble Saint George, made for the guildhall of Orsanmichele; the gilt-bronze Saint Louis of Toulouse at the Church of Santa Croce, Florence; and his bronze sculpture of the Feast of Herod and statuettes of angels on the baptismal font in the Baptistery of Siena. The Early Renaissance also included Filippo Brunelleschi, who was born in Florence in 1377 and died in 1446, he was considered the greatest Architect of this period. He created many works of art such as the Cupola of the Florence cathedral. He also built The Duomo of Florence which has become the symbol of Florence; it is the tallest and is a symbol of the wealth and public pride of the upper class families of the city during the Renaissance. Another artists of the Early Renaissance was Masaccio, perhaps the most influential artist of the Renaissance period, born in 1401 and died in 1428. In his short 27 years in this world, he created a style of art that represents art of the period. He developed a style that used perspective in a way that created an illusion of three-dimensions. These three artists where specified as the back bone of Early Renaissance.
