What Justice Means
As a student, one may ask what justice means. Justice has been defined in different ways. Justice is the quality of being just or fair, the administration of law. Every person has his or her definition of justice. Regardless of how the word is defined justice always falls in the category of fairness.
When I think of justice, I think of laws and procedures and how every person deserves to have equal rights under a court of law. When a person commits a crime, they should be treated with equal justice. I believe when a person is accused of a breaking the law, he or she has a right to be innocent until proven guilty with a fair hearing to plea in their defense. Many times, this is difficult because if they are on trial this person is already labeled as guilty. I think it’s only human to feel sorry for the victims, before knowing all the facts. This occurs when justice does all they can to prove he or she is guilty or not.
Having justice to me is the idea behind how laws are enforced; also having the crime that a person commits fit the punishment that he or she deserves. I know that laws are different in every state. Many people may not know California has one of the strictness laws. I find it ridiculous when a person is fined for a bike on the wrong side of the street. Laws are made to follow and to obey and when not followed, consequences happen and with justice one must pay for not following the rules.
When a serious crime is committed I believe that a person should be taught a lesson and deserve to pay for making it a lesson learned for themselves and others. Of course, being two sides of every story, giving them a fair hearing is justice. If the accused is guilty like rape, molestation, or murder, Many would believe they deserve what they have coming. Many times, in these situations innocent people are sent to prison for years, and later finding they were innocent. When this occurs I guess many may believe...
