FedEx Corporation has built its company of immediate delivery on has an incredibly open forum for communication. Each employee has the capability and is encouraged to communicate their thoughts and ideas with virtually anyone within the firm. Frequent and open communication with the field from the home office is a strategic initiative implemented by the managing general partner and the executive committee. Communication between the office administrator and the advisor is critical to the success of each individual location.
Ethical Standards and behavior – Edward Jones requires each advisor to manage a profitable, legal, and ethical office. The firm conducts mandatory ethics training for each financial advisor on an annual basis. The financial industry, it seems, must constantly struggle to overcome the damage inflicted by unethical brokers and fraudulent practices at investment banks and brokerage firms. The recent sub-prime mortgage crisis once again calls into question the ethics of the entire industry. Edward Jones works very hard to be conservative and to always do what is right for the client. The firm has a very good reputation among individual investors.
Organizational diversity – Edward Jones is lacking in the area of workplace diversity. The firm is predominately white with most of those being white males. There has only been one African American advisor in the Northeast Ohio region during the last eight years. The firm has instituted several inclusion initiatives to increase the diversity of the firm. There are currently several volunteer groups within the firm working to offer the Jones opportunity to more women and to those of different race.
Dress and language – The dress code at Edward Jones is up to the individual advisor. The firm has conducted many studies that indicate business attire is preferable to a golf shirt and khakis. Advisors generally dress in either business or business casual attire. Few...
