How would you describe the theme of the story "4 Miles to Pinecone"? Does the theme relate to your life in some way? Is it a good way? Or is it a bad way? The main theme in my prospective is the Honesty is the best policy. You should always tell the truth no matter what situation you're in. Tom's situation was a very "sticky" one, that’s because he had to decide between his best friend, and telling the truth. I am stuck in one of those situations way too much. Trying to decide between my friends or the truth. Sometimes I have to pick the truth, and sometimes I have to choose my friends to protect them and their safety. In this story, trusting was a big concern. Tom has to make a HUGE decision, both to tell the truth and save his own life, or keep the truth and live in his guilt the rest of his life. The other main theme throughout the story was that you should always pick the right people to be friends with. Because you don’t always know what’s in store for them. They could be a totally different person behind your back but then when their with you, they are a whole entire different person. It’s hard to decide who is the right people for you. You don’t always know what to look for, or who to look for. This relates to the story because Tom didn’t expect Mouse to be a thief but he was. Tom was totally shocked by this because he never thought Mouse was like that. I have found it to be really hard to “fit” in with different types of people. Some people except me for who I am, but others don’t. So that’s why it’s a good thing to choose the right people. These 2 themes are very important to the book and our own lives. They can relate to multiple of us in many different ways, they could be bad or they could be good. I picked these 2 because I thought they were good ones and could relate to a lot of people. Its important for books to have good themes and messages so
