Due to the global war going on and the need for trucking transportation, the growth of the company rose. In less than ten years, the fleet had increased to 16 tractors and 36 trailers. The company is still privately held due to internal sales and five Eastern carriers the company acquired. Huffman Trucking thrives on its vision “to be a model company to [their] stockholders, employees, customers, and all stakeholders” (Huffman Trucking).
P & G spread out into other countries and became an international corporation in the early 1930s, in both areas of product sales and manufacturing. The company caters to the needs of consumers in more than 180 countries around the world (Procter & Gamble, 2011). Today P & G functions in almost 80 countries worldwide and employs over 130,000 employees. P & G’s global business unit focuses on consumer’s first, brands backed by guarantee, and competitors across the world. This unit is accountable for the shareholder returns from their businesses, innovation pipeline, and profitability.
River Valley civilizations were successful because they were able take ideas from others and reinvent them to best suit their needs. Civilizations developed first around the Middle East around the Fertile Crescent and closer to the Pacific. The first civilizations in the area around the rivers were very successful and gave examples for other river valley people to begin their own civilizations. Ideas were often modified for a certain area. Mesopotamia and Egypt are two examples of this.
Just as physical products are open to innovation and change, so are new services. An example of this type of innovation is Frederick Smith who is the American entrepreneur responsible for the multi-million dollar international company, Federal Express. He created a new and better way of moving packages between people. New services, like physical products can also have positive movement due to branding. It is beneficial for entrepreneurs to think more along the lines of all product and service aspects instead of in silos and just thinking about producing “products” alone or “services.” That concept is imperative for entrepreneurs to understand as customer service can be added as an additional component as well to a physical product.
