Natural disasters are extreme, sudden events caused by environmental factors that injure people and damage property, it’s the consequence of a natural hazard (volcanic eruption, earthquakes, or landslides) which affects human activities, human vulnerability, exacerbated by the lack of planning, or appropriate emergency management, leads to financial, environmental, and human loses. The resulting loss depends on the capacity of the population to support, or resist the disaster, their resilience. This understanding is concentrated in the formulation: "a disaster occurs when hazards meet vulnerability". A natural disaster will hence never result in a natural disaster in areas without vulnerability, e.g. strong earthquakes in uninhabited areas. The term natural has consequently been disputed because the events simply are not hazards or disasters without human involvement.
A natural disaster is a threat of an event that will have a negative effect on people, or the environment. Many natural hazards are related, e.g. earthquakes, can result in drought, tsunamis, it can lead directly to famine, and disease. Hazards are consequently relating to a future occurrence and disasters to past or current occurrences.
Natural disasters strikes anywhere on earth without any warning. It is no secret that the frequency and impact of natural disasters are on the rise worldwide. Earthquakes, hurricanes, tsunamis, forest fires, tornadoes, ice storms, and severe rain storms, are happening more often than ever before, and costing us more, and more.
Natural disasters come in many shapes, and sizes. We have different types of natural disasters, most of them are related to weather but some are geological. Weather patterns e.g. storms, cyclones, hurricanes, floods, tornadoes. Other climatic condition e.g. droughts, bush fires, avalanches, changes in the earths crust e.g. volcanoes, tsunami, or tidal waves.
