GOOD WILL HUNTING
To say it was a good movie would be wrong, because Good Will Hunting was a truly one of the best films of the last twenty years. This film captured me in its honeycomb with such a brilliant plot design and accordingly divine character portrayals. It is a tale of Will Hunting (Matt Damon), who is, a rough, blue collar, South-Side Boston (Southy), mathematic genius (although he knows everything about everything else as well). He becomes entangled in conflict with the mathematical gift he’s been given and the future it could bring, and his Southy heritage which is all he knows. Mathematics Professor, Gerald Lambeau (Stellen Skarsgard), discovers Wills gifted abilities, and arranges for Will to be released from a jail sentence into his custody, under the conditions that they meet weekly, and he must see a therapist, Sean Maguire (Robbin Williams). The movie follows Will from friends, to Gerald and Sean, and to his relationship with his beautiful girlfriend Skylar (Minnie Driver). The way the characters are developed in such detail and with such depth; the emotionality that arises from such realism in the relationships between all the roles; and the tremendously insightful dialogue, are what make this a movie should definitely not be missed.
Anyone that had twenty or more lines in this film had a well thought out detailed background. This is one of those movies, where by the end, you feel like you know the characters personally, and when the credits come on, you sigh, because all you want is to know what happens next to everyone. The writers did an excellent job examining the main character Will, by piecing together parts of his history and complex personality, diligently throughout the film. Robbin Williams, who does such a superb job of playing Sean Maguire, who is inevitably the cause of Wills big emotional breakthrough, did so by going into detail of his abuse as a child, growing up poor in Southy, which was...
